Sharing is caring!

Safe Kids Spalding is led by WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital and on January 24th they hosted a Coalition Launch. This event introduced the new coalition to the Spalding County community and discussed ways to collaborate to address unintentional injury.

Kim Stephens, Safe Kids Spalding Coordinator shared:

“This community is already doing great things and I’m excited that now we can do even more for the community!”

Safe Kids Spalding will focus on preventing unintentional injuries based on identified priority needs in the community and future programs will include child passenger safety events, pedestrian safety and wheeled sports safety.

This Coalition Launch included a host of speakers to include Safe Kids Georgia Board Member, Araba Dowell. Ms. Dowell stated:

“The children make up a quarter of the community which is significant. Safety is so imperative to the growth of the community. This is a small county with actively involved businesses and continuous support from their hospital. I love the partner engagement and Kim’s passion is evident as this will surely be a thriving coalition that has hit the ground running!”

Several partners spoke to highlight their commitment to injury prevention to include Regina Abbott, Executive Director of Spalding Collaborative who shared:

“I always envied other counties that had a Safe Kids Coalition. Spalding Collaborative and its partners are behind you 100% and will do whatever we can to support the success of Safe Kids Spalding.”

Safe Kids Spalding needs resources, volunteers and support from those in the community interested in preventing childhood injuries. For more information, please contact:
