Sharing is caring!

Safe Kids Gwinnett, led by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, held their first coalition meeting on June 5th! At this meeting, various stakeholders in the community were introduced to the work that Safe Kids Georgia does and the relationship that the state office has with the coalition.

There were a multitude of representatives from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, Gwinnett County Police Department, Lawrenceville Police Department, Norcross Police Department, Gwinnett County Division for Family and Children Services, Gwinnett County Juvenile Court, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Live Healthy Gwinnett, J.M. Tull Gwinnett County YMCA, Tiny Towne, Eastside Medical Center, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Marcela Esquivel, the Coalition Coordinator for Safe Kids Gwinnett and the Fire Educator for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, and Miller Brown, the Education Lieutenant for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, hosted a great event to get the everyone involved together and start the discussion on injury prevention in Gwinnett County. Each stakeholder brings a different element of the community to the table and they are looking forward to enhancing their partnership with the coalition. Everyone in the community is excited to collaborate with Safe Kids Gwinnett!

I loved that many businesses took time out of their day to come together in support of injury prevention.  This is hopefully the start of enhancing Safe Kids Gwinnett and preventing as many injuries as possible by working as a team.
