Safe Kids Forsyth, led by the Forsyth County Fire Department, hosted the Lake Lanier Water Safety Taskforce’s Media Event on July 2nd. The purpose of this event was to inform residents and visitors of metro Atlanta/North Georgia, and more specifically those that live in the four counties touching Lake Lanier, about importance water safety.

Stakeholders from the community who came out to show their support included: the Forsyth County Fire Department, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Hall County Fire Department, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Gwinnett County Fire Department, the Gwinnett Police Department, the Dawson County Fire Department, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Forsyth County Safe Kids, Hall County Safe Kids, the City of Cumming, the Cumming Police Department, the Lake Lanier Association, the Department of Natural Resources Division, and the Cumming Fairgrounds.

During the event, community members got to hear about the importance of wearing life jackets, avoiding impaired and distracted boating, CPR, avoiding driving under the influence, and distracted driving. This event focused on informing people about ways to stay safe over the 4th of July weekend and preventing any accidental deaths or unintended injury.
